Find your second mountain.

Who is Joshua?

My life was turned upside down in a moment. I pulled into my driveway one spring day and found my wife of fourteen years on the verge of death. Two days later I became a widower and a single father. All the ways I had been trained to deal with grief as a coach suddenly became real to me. And I didn’t know if I would make it.

Whether we realize it or not, many of us set out in life to climb a mountain of achievement. We train vigorously for the hard skills we need to get to the top. Most of us, however, reach a point in our careers when the life we’ve built fails to satisfy us and we have a choice to make. Sometimes, the life we built crumbles around us. Sometimes, we intentionally burn it all down. But with the right help, we can choose to build a better, more sustainable future.

I help people move forward.

I’ve navigated loss and tragedy and kept moving forward. Since my first mountain crumbled around me, I’ve remarried, blended a family, and built a new career. Wherever you are on your journey, I can help you stay in the game for the long haul.

FAQs

Is coaching right for me?

Most of my clients are leaders, entrepreneurs, and other high achievers who are used to figuring things out. They come to me when they hit something that working harder isn't solving.

You might be:

  • Carrying the weight of leadership and wondering how long you can keep going.

  • Running a business that has started running your life.

  • Facing a decision or transition and unsure what comes next.

  • Successful on paper but wondering why something still feels missing.

  • Struggling in your marriage or other important relationships.

  • Procrastinating, avoiding a hard conversation, or repeating a pattern you can't seem to change.

  • Clear about where you want to go but unsure why you keep getting stuck.

You don't need someone to convince you that you need help. You probably already know something isn't working. Coaching gives you a confidential place to take off the mask, talk honestly about what's happening, and get an outside perspective.

My work isn't limited to your professional life. We may talk about your business or leadership one week and your marriage, family, emotional life, or personal story the next. Sometimes the problem requires a practical strategy. Other times, we need to understand the pattern underneath it.

Together, we'll get clearer about what you want, identify what's keeping you from getting there, and work toward meaningful change in your work, relationships, and life.

Do I have to be an executive?

Not at all. Many of my clients are executives, entrepreneurs, business owners, and other leaders, but you don't need a particular title. I work with high achievers who want help navigating the personal and professional challenges that come with a life of responsibility and ambition.

The work is about the whole person—not just the role you play at work.

What does the coaching process look like?

We begin by getting a clear picture of where you are now.

Early in our work, we'll look at the major areas of your life, what brought you to coaching, where you want to go, and some of the experiences and patterns that have shaped you.

From there, our work is guided by four questions:

Where am I?
What do I want?
Where am I getting stuck?
What do I need to do next?

This isn't a rigid curriculum. Your real life sets the agenda. Bring the business problem, the argument you had with your spouse, the decision you can't make, the thing you're avoiding, or the question that's keeping you awake.

Sometimes we'll work toward a practical next step. Other times we'll slow down and look beneath the immediate problem. I draw from a range of tools including emotional intelligence, story work, differentiation, attachment, leadership development, and work around patterns like perfectionism, procrastination, the inner critic, and imposter syndrome.

The goal is not simply greater insight. It's to understand yourself more clearly and use that understanding to live and lead differently.

How do I begin?

The first step is a complimentary Discovery Meeting.

We'll talk about what's bringing you to coaching, what you'd like to change, and what you're looking for from a coach. It's also a chance for both of us to determine whether we're a good fit to work together.

If we decide to move forward, we'll begin a six-month private coaching engagement with two 50-minute sessions each month.

Why six months?

Meaningful change takes time.

Six months gives us enough space to understand where you are, clarify what you want, identify the patterns and obstacles keeping you stuck, and begin making meaningful changes.

The process provides structure without forcing your life into a predetermined curriculum. We'll continue to work with the challenges, decisions, relationships, and opportunities that arise along the way.

At the end of six months, we'll step back and look at what's changed, what you've learned about yourself, and what you want next.

Many clients choose to continue beyond the initial engagement. At that point, the relationship often becomes less structured: an ongoing place to bring the personal and professional challenges of leadership to someone who already knows you, your story, your goals, and your patterns.

How am I billed?

Executive coaching is offered as a six-month engagement and includes two private coaching sessions each month.

Coaching may be paid for personally or sponsored by an employer or organization. Many companies invest in coaching as part of leadership and professional development.
